Well, we're getting ready to hit the road again tomorrow morning. Our destination: Jackson, MS. There is a PGA Tour event being held there next week, which means the qualifying process will begin this Friday. For all PGA Tour tournaments, there is a pre-qualifying round (Fri.) and qualifying round (Mon.) that take place the weekend before the tournament starts. On Friday, about 60% of the field will make it through to Monday where everyone left will be competing for the 4 open spots available. It's a tough task, but definitely worth a try.
I would have to say that I feel more prepared going forward than I've felt so far in this journey. I've spent the majority of October practicing and working on my game. I'm confident in my swing and my short game is improving. I know there is a lot more work to do, but I feel good as of right now.
The plan is to drive up tomorrow morning in time to play a practice round sometime in the afternoon. They're expecting the weather to be bad with the next front moving through, but maybe we'll get lucky. The course we're playing on Friday is a course I've played about 5 times before so I know the layout. If I don't get a practice round in I feel confident enough that I'll be able to get by on Friday. This is the last PGA Tour event of the year that is open to the public for qualifying so let's hope we can make the best of it. More to follow tomorrow......
